the original map of the great MIT implementors’ “zork,” from around 1979, as re-copied/completed 1982.
“zork” was divided into 3 separate installments, fleshed out, and released as a text-based interactive adventure game.
what it created was a genre that has since come to be known as “interactive fiction,” although, as this map and others who’ve written on the subject have noted, it’s fundamentally an exercise in mapmaking and (bizarre) logic with some good writing as window-dressing.

me, giving my first line from “ruddigore,” which closes this evening after a very successful four-night run.
I don’t really sound like this, by the by, but coming up with and fine-tuning this character with the cast and crew has been a great deal of fun. I’m so retiring this voice, though.
