    the thames
“cinder and smoke” (iron & wine cover)
recorded in one take (though vocals and an extra piano are overdubbed), july 3, 2004

engineer: ace salisbury (of negative sleep machine and teen fiction)
producers: dakin henderson & c.e. carey

the thames were a high school band active from 2002-2006. about eleven original songs and two clever covers (the above “cinder and smoke” and bob dylan’s “it ain’t me babe”) made up their repetoire by the time they went on hiatus. I played the bass, wrote some of the music, and sang. I don’t sing on this track. you should be thankful. as noted above, this was recorded in one take, in a small living room - you can hear me flub the bass line at the end, but we had no time to re-record it.

I started writing music again briefly this winter, but haven’t done much with it as grad school has gradually reconquered my life. funny to listen to these old tracks now.

    Played 8 time(s).
